CEO - Richard Hancock

Richard Hancock took up the role of Chief Executive Officer of the Northern Territory Department of Planning and Infrastructure (DPI) in November 2007.

Richard has spent the majority of his career in financial management, marketing and account management roles.

For the past 10 years he worked in Local Government in NSW, QLD and Victoria and was a Chief Executive Officer for seven of those years. His time in Local Government includes the City of Sydney in the lead up to the 2000 Olympics and in south eastern Queensland - one of the fastest growing regions in Australia.

As CEO of the Department he has addressed a number of major infrastructure industry forums including recent engagements with the Planning Institute of Australia (Northern Exposure) National Congress in March 2009 and will address the Liquid Learning Group Early Contractor Involvement in Major Projects Conference, in September 2009.

Richard Hancock has a Batchelor of Business from Monash University and is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, the Institute of Municipal Managers and the Australian Innovation Festival Advisory Committee (previous).

He has also studied regional development theory and practice in both the United States and the United Kingdom and has led business delegations to India, China, South Korea, Japan and Canada.
